Description

To travel one of the most important rivers in Peru is an indescribable experience. Live this experience full of excitement and fun with us.
We will pick you up from any hotel in downtown Arequipa 10 minutes before your scheduled tour time and take you to our equipment house to prepare you and your gear for the river. You will change into wetsuits and safety gear and we will head to the river via the beautiful path through the Chilina Valley to the Chapi-Charcani Virgin Sanctuary, a small church along the Chili River where your tour begins. Before entering the water, our guides will give you a brief lesson on river safety and rescue, as well as explain the role of the rafting guides and safety kayaker.

The first section of rapids is class II and is useful for practicing paddling technique and river safety. Next, we will do an exciting class III section where you are sure to get a little wet. The next section is class IV, the strongest rapids you'll encounter (if you don't feel up to the challenge of class IV rapids, you have the option of getting out of the raft and walking a short distance to meet the rafts for the final class III section; almost everyone is ready for class IV rapids, but we'll be happy to accommodate those who aren't).

After an exciting run through class IV rapids, we will stop at a place where you can swim and jump off the cliff if you don't feel like you've gotten wet enough. The final 15-minute stretch before exiting the river is class III with considerable rapids.

Upon exiting the river, you'll change out of your wetsuit and gear and make a quick stop at our warehouse for refreshments. We will take you back to the Plaza de Armas to enjoy the rest of the day in the white city.
