Day 1: Pick up & Transfer to Nyungwe National Park for a canopy walk
Be picked up from your hotel or the airport and embark on the journey to Nyungwe NP. Stop at the King's Palace to learn about the vibrant culture of the Rwandan people. Continue to Nyungwe and have a lunch break. In the afternoon, prepare for a canopy walk.
Suspended above a ravine in the lush montane rainforest of Nyungwe National Park, the canopy walkway provides an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops and wildlife. See countless butterflies, orchids, and colorful birds, including many endemic to the region. Drive to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimp tracking & waterfalls
Wake up early for breakfast at the lodge and prepare for a long day of activities. The driver will take you to the briefing which starts at Uwinka. Throughout the activity, the park guides will share information about each of the species encountered – their behavior, feeding, and reproductive habits.
After refreshments from the hotel, be taken for a nature walk to visit the waterfalls. Nyungwe National Park has over 14 trials for nature walks. The trails are designed to allow visitors to experience the flora and fauna in the park.
Day 3: Full-day Lake Kivu Boat trip & Kayaking
This morning, take a motorboat on one of Africa's Great Lakes that will soak you up the beautiful scenery that surrounds Lake Kivu. Take a motorboat to Cyimbili for a coffee tour. Visit Munini, popularly known as Napoleon Island, for a hike to the summit viewpoint and the spectacle of a raucous bat colony.
Later, go swimming in the warm, clean water from the kayaks. Explore Lake Kivu on a peaceful kayaking journey along the shores of the Lake. With an experienced and qualified leader in charge, paddle a modern sea kayak or sit-on-top to dip into inlets and across bays as you soak up the spectacular scenery, meet the fishermen, see local fish farms, and optionally visit the hot springs.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Meet the driver guide and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda crossing the Cyanika Border. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge and later have a short community walk around.
Day 5: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi relaxation
After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular. The area offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense.
The time is taken and the terrain varies with the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, be allowed an hour in their presence. Return to your lodge. Have your lunch and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Admire the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water.
