Be picked up from your meeting point and continue downtown past Te Papa and the QT hotel, seeing St Gerard’s church and monastery before driving up to the top of Mount Victoria to see spectacular views of Wellington’s city and harbor.

Move away from the city and take a look at the Italian fishing area hugging the rugged coastline of Island Bay. Stop at a museum in Owhiro Bay which displays some interesting history about the Wellington southern coastline.

Continue further around the coastline, passing Peter Jackson’s house and the local Wahine monument, where 52 people lost their lives on 10 April 1968 when the roll on/roll off ferry Wahine capsized after hitting Barrett’s Reef during a hurricane.

After lunch, drive to Weta Studios on the Miramar Peninsula for a Lord of the Rings experience at the Weta Cave. Meet Gollum, Lurtz, and some trolls from the Lord of The Rings and have a chance to purchase Lord of the Rings memorabilia and more photo opportunities outside.

Continue around the coastline back into the city, passing popular Oriental Bay, ending up at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. Take a 1-hour guided tour where you discover New Zealand’s rich history and cultures through Te Papa’s world-leading exhibitions and treasures.

After Te Papa, drive through the inner city ending up at the bottom of the iconic Wellington cable car. Travel to the top in the cable car and visit the quaint museum at that end, before taking a stroll through the lovely Botanic and Lady Norwood Rose Gardens.

See Parliament Buildings and visit Old St Paul’s Cathedral – one of the world’s best examples of Gothic Revival architecture. Finally, be dropped off wherever you wish within the city center.
