Description

Set off to explore unique Arctic landscapes of Kvaloya and Sommaroy on this tour from Tromso. Experience Norway at your pace with an expert guide.
Start with pickup from your hotel in Tromsø and head to the island of Kvaløya, keeping an eye out for reindeer. Your first stop is at Kaldfjord, where you can marvel at the wonderful scenery and make the most of photo opportunities. Have chocolate cookies and coffee or tea along the way.

Continue to Ersfjord, taking in the glacial scar on the terrain, rugged mountains, and the entrance of the Arctic Ocean from Sommarøy. Then, head onto road 862 to the island of Sommarøy, passing through mountainous terrain with its own microclimate.

Cross Lake Kattfjordvatnet, with its mountains and waterfalls. Halfway through the day, enjoy the views of Kattfjord and its old northern lights observatory. Pass through the communities of Sjøtum and Bogen, stopping in Sandneshamn to enjoy its bay before crossing the tunnel to the island of Sommarøy.

Before crossing the Sommarøy bridge, take in the views of the Arctic cathedral (island of Håja). Once on Sommarøy, stop to observe the island of Senja. Then, stop at a beach to admire the coral the ocean brings in. Stop again to photograph the three famous houses of Sommarøy that reflect Norwegian architecture.

Finally, sit back and relax on the return car ride to Tromsø, or choose to stay in Eidkhosen to enjoy a local lunch at the restaurant Eide Handel at your own expense. Enjoy a light salmon tasting experience that includes an explanation of the history and preparation of salmon in the majestic Eiden Handel at the Kvaløya supermarket. Savor an experience that collaborates with local fishermen, salmon farms, and ranchers (closed on Sunday).

If you stay for lunch, return to Tromsø on bus 42, which takes approximately 21 minutes.
