Description
Embark on a private walking tour of Tromsø, the gateway to the Arctic. Walk in the footsteps of Roald Amundsen the historic explorer and visit the Polar Museum before visiting the city's oldest pub.
On this tour we take you on a walk around the small city centre of Tromsø that has been founded in 1795 on the island of Tromsøya. The city, which was also called the Gateway to the Arctic, has been throughout history the start for several Polar Expeditions.
Tromsø has been an important base for many polar expeditions, and the Polar Museum exhibits and presents this polar seafaring tradition. After the visit at the Polar Museum, the walk continues through the main street “Storgata” towards Ølhallen, Tromsøs oldest pub. Ølhallen used to be a popular place to stay for fishermen and explorers.
