Hiunchuli Peak Climbing in the Annapurna region is one of the most difficult and successful climbing tours. The journey is enchanted by glorious Himalayan views, that provide serenity and an imaginary atmosphere as if carefully rendered by nature. A short introduction to Gurung, its rich culture and traditions are also included.

Hiunchuli, at a height of 6,441 meters, forms a massive south-facing wall together with Annapurna South. Its eastern face overlooks the Modi Khola and guards the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary. An American Peace Corps Expedition, via the southeast face, first climbed Hiunchuli in October 1971. The mountain is not technically difficult to climb but is vulnerable to rock falls, and route finding may also be a problem. Even though it offers major new route potentials, it has received little attention from mountaineers and is rarely climbed

Outline Itinerary

Day 1 : Drive from Pokhara Siwai and trek to Chomrong (2,210m) (Duration: 5-6 hours.
Day 2; Trek from Chomrong to Himalaya (2,840m) Duration: 5-6 hours.
Day 3; Trek from Himalaya to ABC (4,120m) Duration: 5-6 hours.
Day 4; Trek from ABC to Hiunchuli Base Camp 4600m/3-4 hours
Day 5; Trek from Base Camp to High Camp 5500m/5-6 hours
Day 6; Summit to Hiunchuli Peak and back to Deurali 3230m/6-7 hours
Day 7; Reserve Day for Climbing in case of bad weather
Day 8; Trek from Deurali to Sinuwa 2360m/6-7 hours
Day 9; Trek from Sinuwa to Ghandruk Village 1940m/6-7 hours and drive back to Pokhara 820m/2 hours
