Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a perfect short beautiful journey in the Annapurna region. Relish the chance to witness the sunrise with spectacular mountains from the top of Poon Hill (3210 m).
The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a circuit in the lower part of the Annapurna Range. The highlight is reaching the summit viewpoint of Poon Hill itself at sunrise and seeing the panoramic views of the famous Annapurna region including Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiuchuli, Tharpachuli, Tukuche Peak, Annapurna IV, Annapurna II, Dhampus, Manaslu ranges, Lamjung Himal, etc. the trail travels through rhododendron forest, terraced slopes, paddy fields and lush vegetation. The warm welcome of the local Gurung and Magar villages is equally as enjoyable.
Day 1
After getting picked up from your hotel in Pokhara, enjoy a 1-hour drive to Birethanti, where you will begin your trek. Ascend through a landscape of teahouses and stunning scenery to reach the Magar village of Ulleri after 2 hours, where you will spend the night.
Day 2
Enjoy a 2-hour trek through stone steps this morning. Admire panoramic views of Annapurna and Mt. Fishtail as you ascend into an alpine forest. Stop for a break at one of the route's many teahouses before reaching Ghorepani after 6 hours. From here, enjoy views of the world's deepest valley before retreating to a teahouse lodge for the night.
Day 3
Rise early to watch the sunrise from Poon Hill. This is sure to be one of the highlights of your trip as you admire the sun rising over 15 mountain peaks. Marvel at some of the world's largest peaks before descending to Ghorepani.
After sunrise, follow a trail that will take you through a rhododendron forest, over mountain ridges to reach Tadapani, where you will spend the night at another teahouse lodge.
Day 4
Today, enjoy a short descent to the village of Ghandruk. Soak up the atmosphere of this charming mountain village as you wander through streets filled with thatch and slate roof houses and farming terraces.
Stop for lunch at a viewpoint where you can admire views of Annapurna South and Huinchuli. Afterward, continue trekking for 1 more hour before catching a ride back to Pokhara, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
