Trek Sahara desert from Marrakesh to Merzouga - the gateway to Erg Chebbi - on a 4-Day round-trip tour. Stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Kasbah at Aït Benhaddou. See the Atlas Mountains
Explore the natural beauty and history of Morocco on a 4-Day adventure from Marrakesh to Erg Chebbi. Drive across the stunning Atlas Mountains and through the valley of roses in the Dadès Gorges. Ride over the dunes of the Sahara Desert by camel and go sandboarding as you watch the sunset. Spend a night under the stars at your desert camp.
Day 1:Get picked up from your accommodation in Marrakesh and drive across the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass. Feel on top of the world as you experience far-reaching views across the Atlas Mountains, which stretch all the way from Tunisia to Morocco and are dotted with traditional Berber villages. Stop at the Kasbah at Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can choose to get lunch here or at your next stop - Ouarzazate.
Visit the famous city of Ouarzazate, a filming location of shows and movies such as The Mummy and Game of Thrones. See the Cinema Studio Atlas and the Kasbah Taourirt. Continue into the Dadès Gorges, where you will pass through the beautiful valley of roses. Sounds good right? Wait until you see the photos. Spend the night in Boumalne Dades.
Day 2:After breakfast you’ll drive through the Todgha Gorges, deep, cliff-sided canyons that have been carved out by ancient rivers. You will also see Tinghir, Tinejdad, Jorf, and Erfoud - an oasis town in the Sahara Desert. This will be your adventure to Merzouga, where your magical evening in the desert will begin.
From Merzouga, you will cross the Erg Chebbi sand dunes on a camel ride to your desert camp for the night, watching the sunset over the sands. When you reach the camp, you can take the chance to go sandboarding. Listen to the sound of drums as you fall asleep in your nomad tent under the stars of the Sahara Desert.
Day 3:Thought that the sunset was special? In the morning you’ll be awoken by a desert sunrise. Climb back onto your camels and head to a hotel where you can refresh yourself. Take a different route on the drive back to Ouarzazate, passing by palm groves and the village of Rissani. When you reach Alnif, you’ll join the road that cuts across the Atlas Mountains. Stop for lunch at the city of Kalaat M'Gouna before continuing your travels to Ouarzazate, where you’ll be sleeping.
Day 4:Savour the taste of a delicious breakfast and take the time to explore Ouarzazate at your own pace. To finish your tour, you’ll be dropped off back in Marrakesh.
