Day 1: Hotel - Yaxchilan - Bonampak - Overnight in Lacanja Cabins
Start your journey from Palenque at 6:00 AM, heading towards the Corozal border. Enjoy a 40-minute boat ride on the Usumacinta River, the natural border between Mexico and Guatemala, where you'll spot exotic birds and possibly crocodiles.
Explore Yaxchilan, a significant Mayan city known for its stone sculptures and rich history dating back to 600-900 AD. Next, visit Bonampak, renowned for its ancient murals depicting Mayan life. End your day by traveling to Lacanja, a Lacandon community, and spend the night in cabins amidst the jungle.
Day 2: Cabins - Jungle Trail - Hotel in Palenque
After breakfast, embark on a guided jungle hike with a native Lacandon guide. Traverse the dense Lacandon Jungle, covering 900 hectares, and spot various wildlife, including jaguars, pumas, and exotic birds. Cross streams and discover waterfalls and ancient Mayan vestiges. Enjoy lunch in Lacanja before returning to Palenque.
