Description

Let your 5 senses of seeing, tasting some specialities, hearing, touching and smelling transport you through time whilst living the everyday modern life of Malta and the Maltese.
We shall meet Infront of the Phoenicia hotel just outside valletta under the shade of the ficus trees. We shall start by observing deeply the main buildings at the magnificent entrance of Valletta like the masterpiece of a fountain of Apap and the majestic entrance and parliament by Renzo piano. We then leave republic street and zig zag through the side streets of Valletta . Going inside buildings, shops and hotels to admire their carefully restored architecture but also going into more traditional places like an underground bakery known only by the locals. In this bakery we meet Michael who will show us the traditional way to make the Maltese ftira and of course taste it while it is still fresh and warm. We will also visit an old convent and a church, a secret garden and the old red light district of a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen . This will take us back to the busy part of the capital towards the grandmaster's palace to cross to the other side of the capital where I will take you through some Instagram able views , streets and facades but also to Stephen Cordina's perfurmery. This gozitan man has done a lot of research and revived ancient and old perfumes from the Phoenicians to the knights of st.john eras. Giving us smells from the local orange blossoms to the ottoman pirates tobacco, adding the essential oils to the natural candles and to the serums of the prickly pears. Making you and I end the tour with the nice smells from ancient Malta.
