Description

Travel from Nairobi City to the Coastal town of Malindi & experience exquisite beaches and get to see the 526 years Vasco dagama pillar erected by the great portugueses explorer in 1499 AD.
The trip begins with a meet up in Nairobi city for a briefing about the trip highlights at 3 pm. We will board a public transport van and embark on the 7 hr journey departing Nairobi between 3:30-4 p.m and arriving in Malindi town at around 11-12 a.m. After arrival we will check in at the hotel where we will have dinner, then proceed to take a rest for the night.

We wake up at 7 am and proceed to have our breakfast. After this we will use public/private (bajaj/boda boda/taxi/van) means of transport or walk (depending with your preference) to the beach. Here you will have an experience of a lifetime by taking a swim or boat rides/snorkelling to see dolphins and many other aquatic life eg turtles, crabs, sharks etc. Malindi has some of the best, well cleaned and maintained coastline by the kenya wildlife service (government agency) therefore you will have an adventure beyond normal human comprehension! We will thereby spend the better part of the day here chilling and relaxing till lunch hour around 1 p.m we will proceed to nearby restaurants/foodjoints for lunch. If on the full day boat ride option everything will be prepared in advance i.e meals and refreshments.

During the evening we will take a walk through malindi town and get to see the historical, economic and cultural way of life in the town. This will also be an opportune time to try out various street foods such as mshikaki, mahindi choma (roasted maize) etc.
We will head back to the hotel for relaxation, refreshing and dinner as we take a good nights sleep after a busy day!

The next morning we will wake up at 8:am and after having breakfast we will head to Vasco dagama pillar via bajaj/taxi/motorbike a historical monument erected by the first european to reach india by sea vasco dagama himself. This 525 year old monument. The pillar is the only known original padrao out of several placed at various points of the african coastline. This will take around 1.5 hrs. Then we will head back to town to visit the Malindi museums where you will be immersed in the rich history of the swahili people including fishing.

From 12 p.m we will head out for lunch and some bites along the various street vendors such as fruit juices. Then head to the beach for some afternoon swimming and walking along the coastline to interract with the fishermen you may get to see fishing of sting rays, sharks and some rare cases octupus. This will last about 2-3 hrs of relaxation as you try some madafu juice!

We will head back to the rooms at around 4 for refreshing, packing and check out. Buy 5 p.m we will board our public van/bus to Nairobi. We will arrive at 1 am in the city where you will be dropped at the hotel or at any other venue as per your request.
