3 Days samburu park is a game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro river in Kenya. On the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve and wide variety of animal and birds .
Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu
After breakfast at the hotel you will be picked by the driver. You will be given a tour brief (pre-departure meeting) of the safari after which you will be driven north past the equator through rugged and dramatic landscape to the northern frontier district with lunch enroute. Continue with your drive to the semi arid Samburu national reserve. On arrival you will head for an evening game drive which may offer you with the sighting of buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and other plains game. Species of game unique to Samburu game reserve include the beisa oryx, the long necked Gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and the blue sharked Somali ostrich. After your game drive you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at samburu ashnil lodge or similar
Day 2: Full Day on Safari at Samburu Game Reserve
Today after your breakfast you will leave with your picnic lunch boxes for a full day game drives in Samburu. You will do morning and afternoon game drives with your picnic lunch break in the reserve which is also home to the third of Kenya's giraffe species - the rare Reticulated Giraffe (only found in the Northern parks). This is also where you see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope other mammals frequently seen in the park include olive baboon, warthogs, Grant's gazelle, Kirk's dik-dik, impala, and waterbuck. A black rhinoceros population has been re-introduced into the park after an absence of 25 years due to heavy poaching. There are over 350 species of bird. These include grey-headed kingfisher, sunbirds, bee-eaters, Marabou stork, tawny eagle, Verreaux's eagle, bateleur, vulturine guineafowl, yellow-necked spurfowl, lilac-breasted roller, secretary bird, superb starling, northern red-billed hornbill, yellow-billed hornbill, and various vultures including the palm-nut vulture.
The Ewaso Ng'iro river contains large numbers of Nile crocodile basks. return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at samburu ashnil lodge or similar.
Day 3: Samburu -Nairobi
After breakfast proceed for a game drive with the driver en route Nairobi , arrive in the afternoon then transfer to the hotel or airport to catch flight back home.
