This 1 Day Trek is designed for guests who have limited time and who are not interested in reaching any of the summits.
There are three main routes to approaching the great Mount Kenya; the Naro Moru Route; the Sirimon Route and the Chogoria Route. These trips are often for visitors who would be spending a night in camps or lodges, hotels or hostels in the whole of Mount Kenya region. The trip offers a drive to the park entrance and several walks to Meet Station at 3000 meters.
The hiking starts from the Park entrance to Old Moses Camp through the Gallery forest up at an altitude of 3000 meters. Being a favorite spot for ornithologists it offers an opportunity to enjoy the view of the Grevy Zebras in the forest. These walks offer good opportunities for bird watchers and for enjoying the different kinds of plantation life.
On the other hand, there is a Moorland one day-trip that also offers a drive up to Old Moses Camp from which you can hike to the Moorland. At this point, magnificent alpine plants view can be enjoyed.
You also drive to Old Moses Camp where the hike starts through the barrow towards Liki North Valley. In here, the Moorland offers a gentle climb through fascinating vegetation with a chance of enjoying the peaks view.
The One-Day Mount Kenya Trips Itinerary
You depart from your lodge (Mount Kenya day tour starts at Sweetwaters, Treetops or Serena Mountain Lodge or from a Nairobi hotel) at around 0700 Hours and drive to the Naro Moru Track (altitude 3,000m.) From there your trek begins with your experienced guide setting a leisurely and relaxing pace trekking up this famous mountain.
At about 3,600m you’ll stop for a picnic lunch and later on you continue to stroll to the crest of the ridge at 4,000m. Here you get a great view of the main peaks as well as the famous Teleki Valley.
Afterwards, you’ll be advised to make a fairly brisk descent to the meeting point and then back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight (you get back at the lodge at around 5pm).

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
