Description

The Kitengela glass factory tour is a fun thing to go and see how glass recycling can be turned into beautiful, kitchen ware or decorative items for homes and hotels.
Kitengela Glass is renowned for its handcrafted glasswork, stunning mosaics, and commitment to eco-friendly artistry. Since its founding in 1981 by the visionary Nani Croze, it has blossomed into one of Kenya's most celebrated artisan centers, consistently drawing visitors worldwide.
The tour begins with a pick up from your hotel at 8am.

Beautiful Art pieces are created using glassblowing and recycled materials, all placed within a unique architectural masterpiece that blends seamlessly with the surrounding African savannah.

For travelers passionate about sustainable tourism and authentic local experiences, Kitengela Glass is a must-see. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple seeking a romantic getaway, or a family looking for a fun and educational day out, this tour offers something for everyone.

At the heart of this attraction is Anselm's Glass Studio, housed in an awe-inspiring planetarium dome. Open seven days a week, the studio showcases the remarkable talents of local glassblowing artisans, creating everything from blown glass objects to intricate architectural installations.

What sets Kitengela Hot Glass apart is its dedication to sustainability. The studio emphasizes using recycled glass, transforming discarded materials into stunning art pieces. From vibrant chandeliers to mosaic windows and glass sculptures, every item tells a story of eco-friendly innovation. This commitment to sustainability makes it a favorite for art enthusiasts and those passionate about environmental conservation.

You will indulge in a short adrenaline excursion of crossing the scary bridge. The suspended bridge is made of wire and glass, with large gaps in the railing. Not for the faint of heart. The crossing can be scary, especially when you get in the middle, where the winds are sturdily swaying the bridge sideways. The bridge can only accommodate seven people at a time, and you are accompanied by a guide. We do not recommend it for children due to the lack of side coverage.

Beyond the mesmerizing glasswork, Kitengela Hot Glass offers a serene environment where visitors can relax, shop, and enjoy local refreshments. The small café on-site serves delicious homemade ice cream, tea, coffee, and snacks – the perfect treat after an inspiring tour. Wander through the shop to take home unique glass creations, from vibrant mosaic pieces to artistic chandeliers, or soak in the creative ambiance.

After the tour, you have the option of being driven to Maasai Lodge for lunch or straight back to the hotel in the afternoon.
