Description
Take a journey through the history of Vancouver & Stanley Park from an Indigenous perspective and learn how they thrived through their oral histories from a local and indigenous tour guide.
Explore the rich history of Stanley Park and Vancouver through Indigenous eyes. On this tour you will join an Indigenous Ambassador-Guide along the Stanley Park seawall, for an enriched, leisurely, 1.1 km, historical and cultural walk. Included is the indigenous ecological-cultural perspective of the Salish Sea and how it has sustained our people. Many of these stories and historical accounts remain in our indigenous oral traditions, yet to be in history books, and pertain to the indigenous and settler history of the development of Vancouver. You will also enjoy a complementary Indigenous Herbal Tea.
Why not learn and explore history and local lore directly from the descendants of the Indigenous peoples who have lived here for millennia. Discover how we continue to live today with our rich cultural customs and practices. The tour concludes at the renowned Stanley Park Totem Poles with the stories behind them and the Indigenous peoples throughout the Pacific Northwest. Stories of kalkalath, Wild Women of the Mountains, make it fun for all guests.
