Description
Does your heart beats faster from challenging obstacles and great heights? Hike up the 1300 meter high Burdah mountain, rewarding you at the top with one of the highest natural bridges in the world.
The Burdah Mountain hike is the most adventurous tour we offer. If you are not afraid of heights and up for a real adventure, this is the right tour for you. We will first do a short jeep tour, starting in Wadi Rum Village, visiting the most important places in Wadi Rum. You will visit Lawrence Spring, a natural spring where you can drink the water that runs from the mountains. The camel’s favorite place! Then we visit Khazali Canyon, showing you the 2000-year-old Nabatean inscriptions that tell the stories of our ancestors and how they used to live and hunt.
Then we visit the Red Sand Dune, that owes its color to the high concentration of Iron Oxide. You can run down the dune or use the sandboard! Then we visit Little Bridge, an easy hike but great for pictures. There is also a Bedouin tent with a local shop, where you can take a break in the shade and drink tea with the Bedouins.
After the tour your guide cooks a traditional lunch for you to give you some energy for the hike. We drive to the Burdah mountain where the adventure begins. Pack light and follow your guide, as there is no marked trail. The trail has a rocky mountain surface with some technically difficult areas that require scrambling and sometimes even climbing up steep surfaces. You should be reasonably fit, but climbing experience isn’t needed, as your experienced guide will help you.
On the top of the mountain there is a huge natural bridge, the last part of the hike. Standing there makes you feel like you’re on top of the world! You can take pictures and rest a bit, while your guide makes tea in the mountains.
The Burdah hike itself takes about 2 to 3 hours. If there’s time after the tour, we will make a few other stops to show you more of the history and highlights Wadi Rum. We end the tour at Um Sabatah, the best place to watch the magical sunset.
After sunset, we will drop you off at the Rest House in Wadi Rum.
For the full traditional experience, you can also add an overnight stay in the camp or cave.
