Embark on a scenic journey from Nagoya to the historic town of Takayama and the charming Shirakawa-go. Your adventure begins at 8:30 AM from the Nagoya Station area, where you'll meet your guide and depart for the day.
At around 11:00 AM, you'll arrive in Takayama, often called "Little Kyoto" for its preserved Edo-era streets and traditional merchant town atmosphere. Spend about 2.5 hours exploring the town at your leisure. Take a stroll through the famous Miyagawa Morning Market, where local vendors sell fresh produce, handmade crafts, and delicious street food like Hida beef skewers and rice dumplings. Don’t miss the chance to visit some of the town’s most iconic spots, such as the old town district, filled with historical buildings and craft shops.
For lunch(self-paying), treat yourself to local specialties at popular eateries like "Mazou Tengoku," known for its high-quality Hida beef, or "Marumi Hida Takayama," famous for mouth-watering Hida beef barbecue. After lunch, you’ll have time to wander through the charming streets and appreciate the region’s traditional crafts and local artistry.
At 2:30 PM, you'll journey to Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its distinctive gassho-zukuri farmhouses with steep thatched roofs. Explore the picturesque village surrounded by lush mountains and clear rivers, and discover the rich cultural history that has made this area famous. Visit the Shiroyama Viewpoint for panoramic views of the village and the stunning backdrop of the White Mountains.
