Dunn's River Falls is believed to be the location of the legendary battle of Las Chorreras, fought in the year 1657. The battle, between the British and a Spanish expeditionary force from Cuba, was over ownership of the island.
The British were victorious, and Charles Pryce, one of the leaders, became the first owner of Las Chorreras.
