Description

Discover the treasures of Venice on a small group walking tour, and experience “La Serenissima” in a more intimate way. With no more than 6 people per group, you will enjoy your guide’s undivided attention as you admire the palaces, churches and small squares of the city of water.

Meet your guide on the small Campo San Giacometto, located in a bustling shopping area in the Rialto. One of the oldest churches in Venice, San Giacometto church was consecrated in 421 AC. See the daily market next to the Grand Canal, where locals come to buy groceries and fresh fish.

Admire the Rialto Bridge just as the sun begins to warm up the day. Your guide will explain the reason of its unique structure and take you to its highest point for a dazzling view of the Grand Canal.

Wander a maze of small alleys and grand piazzas in some of Venice’s most historic sestiere (neighborhoods), hearing entertaining anecdotes about powerful Venetian families.

Along the way, pass the small church of San Giovanni Crisostomo in the Cannaregio, see the Santi Giovanni e Paolo church in the Castello, and admire the Gothic and Renaissance façades of the church of Santa Maria Formosa in the Rialto. Before you know it, you will be standing on St. Mark’s Square, facing grandiose St. Mark’s Basilica.

Learn about the power struggles of the neighboring Doge’s Palace. Admire the golden mosaics of St. Mark’s, before you skip the long lines to go inside and discover the wonders of its interior. The tour is timed to coincide with the hour each morning when the lights are turned on inside. Go to the top terrace for beautiful views, both inside the church and across St. Mark’s Square.
