You will meet your driver at Sorrento accommodation and drive on the way to the Tour of Amalfi Coast.
Sorrento will welcome you with its volcanic cliffs and natural gorges. You will pass the main square Piazza Tasso, named after a very famous Italian poet born here and you will follow the main street Corso Italia until you will drive up on the Sorrento hills in order to reach the amazing Amalfi Coast, considered the most beautiful drive in the world, for a stop to the romantic Positano and the delightful Amalfi. on the way you will be faceing the gulf of salerno with the little islands of Li Galli or Syrenuse Islands, where according to the legend the Syrens used to live.
Through a twisty bendy road you will reach Positano, the driver will leave you right at the beginning of the center that will enchant you with the narrow streets, cafès, art galleries and boutiques. In the afternoon the trip continues to the discover of Amalfi. On the way you will pass the fishermen village of Praiano, with its church dedicated to San Gennaro, bishop of Benevento who was martyred in the fourth century under the reign of Diocletian. The building, with a beautiful polychrome majolica dome, was built in the sixteenth century on the ruins of an earlier church of the same name.
Praiano is famous also for a picturesque Christmas crib built in a cave that you will see.
Along the drive passing watch towers, natural beauties and villas, before approaching Amalfi, you will pass the fijord of Furore, a tiny fishing village that was inhabited, among others, by Roberto Rossellini (who shot the film Love) and Anna Magnani, who was romantically linked to him. Amalfi will welcome you with its beautiful beach and cliff.
The driver will stop you right in the center where you can have the chance to visit the gorgeous cathedral, with a magnificent façade and the cloister of paradise and the crypt containing the relics of St andrew, patron saint of the city. Amalfi was the first Italian maritime republic,and the traces of its glorious past are everywhere. Only here you fill find the famous Amalfi hand made paper, its soft texture is incomparable.
The Tour of Amalfi Coast continues to the discover of Ravello, a medieval village on the hills overlooking the bay. Ravello for its beauty and history, since the middle age attracted artists and writers, such as Boccaccio, A. Gide, Escher, E.M. Forster, Virginia Woolf, D.H. Lawrence and Wagner, that here wrote the second act of his final opera, Parsifal. the main square is dominated by the exquisite Duomo and the Norman-Arab Villa Rufolo. After the Tour of Amalfi Coast, the driver will take you back to the Sorrento.
