During your walking tour of Pompeii, in addition to the many sights, your knowledgeable guide will provide you with fascinating information about the history of this mysterious place. In addition to a revealing series of inscriptions, finely carved sarcophagi, and vases from various regions of southern Italy, the Museum holds many sculptures which you will get to see in the flesh. Witness the statue of Marcus Holconius Rufus, the Dacian barbarian prisoners, Marcus Nonius Balbus, and the colossal statues of the Greek gods Castor and Pollux from Baia. During your trip to the museum, you will also get to see the famous Farnese collection, a sight not to be missed. 


Witness the central and largest part of the collection, consisting of the objects that reemerged from the excavations of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Stabiae, and the other Vesuvian centers buried under the eruption of 79 AD. Gold and emerald pins, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces, the furnishings of daily life, pots and glasses, silver, braziers, tripods, scales, lanterns, and harness bells, mostly in bronze, and many other little curiosities, all of which you will be able to see and study in person. You will also get to see perfectly preserved mosaics that depict the Battle of Alexander the Great, the Traveling Musicians, and the Academy of Plato.
