Description
A guided tour through 2.000 years of history in the Benedictine Monastery of Catania. We will visit: the cloisters, the kitchen, the roman houses and the cellar built on the lava.
The guided tours last more or less 75 minutes and include a visit to the most important areas of the Benedictine Monastery of Catania: the two cloisters, the 16th century cellar now used as the Library of the Department of Humanities (Unict), the Roman House that is visible right under a modern mezzanine used by the students as part of the Library, the Garden of the Novices, the famous kitchens and cellars of the 18th century, work of the architect Vaccarini, and the sumptuous monumental staircase.
The Officine Culturali team will accompany guests through the labyrinthine corridors and majestic architecture of the monastic complex, on a journey through time, from the Roman age to the present day, a journey that is only possible thanks to the contemporary refurbishment project by the architect Giancarlo De Carlo.
