From Reykjavik: Golden Circle Full-Day Afternoon Trip

Explore the classic Golden Circle of Iceland by super Jeep, visiting the famous natural treasures of Gullfoss, Geysir, and the ancient site of Thingvellir and see the eruptions of Strokkur Geysir.
Greet your new friends as your driver and guide welcome you on board the SuperJeep. Pick-up can be arranged at your hotel or accommodations in Iceland at 13:00. Your first stop is Thingvellir National Park, home of Iceland’s ancient parliament. You'll spend about 20 minutes walking through the park to experience the dramatic mid-Atlantic ridge where the 9000-year old lava field splits apart. This is a natural phenomenon demonstrating the continental drift between North America and EuroAsia. You'll have the opportunity to view more lava fields on the hills above Laugarvatn as you head east on the mountain road Lyngdalsheiði.


Approaching the home of the great Strokkur geyser in the geothermal area of Haukadalur, you’ll likely be able to see an eruption every 5 to 7 minutes. Spouting boiling hot water into the air at heights of approximately 25 to 30 meters, you'll stop here to enjoy one of nature’s greatest shows while exploring the hot springs. You will also pause at the epic Gullfoss waterfall: a two-tiered drop into the white Hvita river, flowing with glacial-waters. Then you'll be navigating the famous Kjölur interior mountain road, a part of Iceland since its earliest settlements and often a major role in Icelandic sagas. It’s also the second longest route through the Highlands.


You will come to see the second largest glacier in the country, Langjökull. In the summer, you'll drive onto the glacier. After a very busy afternoon, you will stop for a lobster feast ( or something else if you don't like lobster ) in the seaside town of Stokkseyri, on the south coast. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the grand finale: the Northern Lights dancing in the sky, one of the world’s most incredible shows! You'll stop to drink in the performance before going home. Heading towards Reykjavík after dinner you'll drive through the mountain plateau area of Hellisheiði. Ascending to the Hellisheiði plateau, you will see the beautiful glow of Hveragerði’s geothermal greenhouses.
