Description
Embark on an insightful tour in Yogyakarta and explore the world's largest Buddhist temple: the Borobudur Temple. Understand the process of Luwak coffee production, then enjoy a delicious tasting.
Explore the world's largest Buddhist temple. This temple dates from the reign of the Syailendra Dynasty of the Medang Kingdom in the 9th century. This Unesco World Heritage site will amaze you with its majestic structures, intricately detailed reliefs and 72 stupas — each containing a statue of Buddha.
Immerse yourself in its rich history and culture as you climb the main, pyramid-shaped temple. Look closely and admire the thousands of stone carvings depicting Buddha images and Javanese life from thousands of years ago
There are three levels in the structure of the Borobudur Temple:
Kamadhatu: The lower part of the temple which symbolizes the underworld, describes human behavior that is still bound by worldly desires.
Rupadhatu: The middle part of the temple which symbolizes the in-between realm, describes human behavior that has begun to leave worldly desires, but is still bound by the real world.
Arupadhatu: The upper part of the temple which symbolizes the upper realm, depicts an intangible element and as a sign of a level that has left worldly desires.
Continuing after visiting the temple, we headed to a Luwak coffee shop, only 2 km from Borobudur temple. The Asian palm civet, also known as the Luwak, is a small, furry, long-tailed, tree-climbing mammal that lives in Southeast and South Asia. They tend to be nocturnal and eat fruit and seeds.
The Luwak will explore in search of this delicacy. When they have found it, they will choose the best, tastiest and ripest fruit to eat.
