Description

Embark from Bali on an exciting tour to Mount Bromo for sunrise, hike Ijen Crater to witness blue flames, and then drive to Yogyakarta to explore the iconic Borobudur and Prambanan temples.
Start your journey from Bali on an exciting tour that blends the natural wonders of East Java with the cultural treasures of Yogyakarta. Over the course of several days, you’ll explore the dramatic volcanic landscapes of Mount Bromo and Ijen Crater, followed by a cultural immersion in Yogyakarta, home to the magnificent Borobudur and Prambanan temples. This adventure-packed tour offers a deep dive into both Java’s natural beauty and historical significance.

Day 1: Bali to Mount Bromo
Your tour begins with a morning pick-up from your Bali hotel. You’ll then transfer to Gilimanuk harbor and take a ferry to Banyuwangi, the gateway to East Java. After crossing the Bali Strait, you’ll drive through scenic Java landscapes, with rice paddies, villages, and towering mountains along the way. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in the area near Mount Bromo, where you can rest at your hotel or guesthouse and prepare for an early morning adventure.

Day 2: Mount Bromo Sunrise and Crater Hike
The adventure starts early—around 1:00 AM—with a 4x4 jeep ride to the Mount Penanjakan viewpoint, where you’ll witness one of the most spectacular sunrises in the world. From this vantage point, the sun slowly rises behind the peaks of Mount Semeru and Mount Bromo, casting a golden light across the Tengger caldera, a dramatic, moon-like landscape of volcanic sand and rock. You’ll climb 250 steps to reach the edge of the crater, where you can peer down into the active volcano, feeling the heat and seeing steam rise from the depths below.

Day 3: Ijen Crater Midnight Hike and Blue Flames
At around midnight, your guide will lead you on a hike up Ijen Crater, which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The hike is challenging but rewarding, as you’ll witness one of nature’s most unique phenomena: the blue flames. These glowing blue lights, caused by ignited sulfuric gases, can only be seen in the dark and create a surreal, almost magical scene at the base of the crater

Day 4: Borobudur Prambanan Temple Exploration
Your day in Yogyakarta begins with a visit to Borobudur, the largest Buddhist temple in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This massive structure, built in the 9th century, is famous for its intricate stone reliefs and hundreds of Buddha statues. Climbing to the top of Borobudur, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and forests, making it easy to understand why this is considered one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in existence.
Prambanan, a sprawling Hindu temple complex also built in the 9th century. Prambanan is dedicated to the Trimurti—the three great Hindu gods: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The tallest temple, dedicated to Shiva, stands at an impressive 47 meters, surrounded by smaller temples and shrines.
