Description
We go to the old part of the city and walk in the tangled backlanes, visit old mansions, markets, temple, mosques, palaces and we end up at the Manikarnika-ghat, the most venerated crematorium.
Our this walk starts from an old church known as St. Thomas church, where St. Thomas, one of the apostles of Jesus Christ, had sat 2000 years ago to preach about the Christianity. Then, we visit an old temple named as Kashiraj Kali Mandir,which is a beautiful example of Nagara style of temple. After that, we visit a local flower market where locally produced flowers are sokd. Then we pass via narrow lanes and watch old fashioned shops and some of the most famous havelis (mansions) which are so beautiful even till date. On the way, we sip some local chai (Indian masala tea) and chit-chat about many different local traditions, customs, art & architecture etc.
We slowly walk towards the river to see a giant mosque which was built after the demolition of an ancient Vishnu temple. After this we visit a beautiful old palace and then reach to the Manikarnika-ghat. We watch respectfully the ritual of cremation of the dead bodies which are brought by the Hindu families. This is where our tour is finished and if the guests want, then we enjoy the delicious refreshing lassi, a drink made up of yoghurt.

The meeting point is a church in white colour and it's the only church in the city centre. In local language it is known as Girjaghar. The guide will be there in semi-formal dress.
