The tank came to known as Hauz Khas or the Royal Tank by the time of the 14th century became an impressive example of the hydraulic advances achieved in those times. This is where several other prominent monuments are scattered including a madrasa belonging to the reign of Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq, that functioned as one of the international educational institution then, and the Sultan is himself buried in the same vicinity inside an elaborately carved Tomb complex.
