The Jagat Shiromani Temple in Amer, near Jaipur, Rajasthan, is a significant historical and cultural site dedicated primarily to Lord Krishna. Constructed between 1599 and 1608 CE, the temple has a unique historical legacy tied to Queen Kanakwati, wife of Raja Man Singh I, a notable general under Mughal Emperor Akbar.

According to legend, the queen built this temple in memory of her son, Prince Jagat Singh, who died at a young age. It is named “Jagat Shiromani,” meaning “jewel among temples,” possibly as an homage to the prince and the royal family’s devotion to Krishna. The temple is distinctively Vaishnavite, as it is dedicated to Krishna and Meera Bai, the saint-poetess known for her devotion to Krishna.

The architecture of the temple combines Hindu and Mughal styles, with intricate carvings, ornate pillars, and detailed frescos. The sanctum has idols of Krishna and Meera Bai, and it is said that this is the same idol that Me
