Description

Experience the stunning waterfalls and black sand beaches of Iceland's South Coast on a private day trip from Reykjavik. Admire geological formations and feel the adrenaline of a glacier hike.
Explore the magical sites of the South Coast sightseeing route from Reykjavik with this immersive private small-group tour. Those eager to see waterfalls, black sand beaches, and an array of other marvels should not hesitate to book this 10-hour excursion.

This adventure begins when your guide picks you up from Iceland’s capital and whisks you out of the city. You’ll be free to ask them questions about the surroundings and culture, and they’ll tell you about the sites you pass, including geothermal landscapes, ice-capped mountains, and distant islands.
Your first stop will be at the waterfall of Skogafoss. This impressive feature is breathtakingly powerful, cascading from a height of 197 feet (60 meters) and with a width of up to 82 feet (25 meters).
Your guide will inform you about the folklore here, and you can walk right up to the blooming spray.

Next, you will head to the Dyrholaey rock arch, an enormous feature that curves into the ocean from a set of cliffs on the shore. It is large enough for ships to enter and small planes to fly through.
If you travel in summer, you will see a colony of puffins nesting in couples, swooping through the sky, and diving in the waters. These animals have little fear of people, allowing you to get surprisingly close.

You will then reach Reynisfjara beach. This place is as haunting as it is beautiful, with alien black sands, bizarre geological formations, and enormous waves. The most notable sites here are the sea stacks of Reynisdrangar and the basalt columns at the cliffs of Reynisfjall.

After soaking in the marvels at the beach, we will head over to Solheimajokull Glacier, for a privately guided glacier hike that will get the adrenaline going.

After walking around this mystical attraction, you’ll turn back on the Ring Road to return to Reykjavik. However, you have one more stop on the way - the beautiful waterfall of Seljalandsfoss.
This feature is gentler than Skogafoss but just as tall, and you can walk behind it due to the cavern behind the cascading water.

You’ll then be dropped off in the capital in time for dinner, drinks, or a northern lights hunt in the city if traveling in winter.

Don’t miss this fantastic small-group day tour around the best sites of the South Coast in Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
