The city we are going to visit stands apart in national history and culture. Its significance is so high that Mtskheta can be called the place where Georgia begins. Here you will touch the origins of Christianity. You will explore iconic sanctuaries: Svetitskhoveli, Jvari, and Samtavro. And you will admire the famous panorama of the confluence of the two rivers — Aragvi and Mtkvari.
Visit the first capital of Georgia and get acquainted with the history of the establishment of Christianity in our land.
City of Mtskheta: a museum city on the UNESCO list. You will get acquainted with the history of the city, which played an important role in the formation of Georgia as a state and its cultural and religious development.
Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. We will visit the largest of the surviving historical temples in the country. We will tell you about the construction and history of the cathedral, which for centuries was the center of Christian Georgia.
Jvari Monastery. The "Monastery of the Cross" is the pinnacle of Georgian architecture. Although the temple is small in size, it impresses with its grandeur. The name of the shrine has a historical basis - since the adoption of Christianity, a cross was erected on the site of this temple by order of St. Nino and King Mirian.
Special mention should be made of the location of the temple. Here you will see the confluence of the Mtkvari River, flowing from the southwest, and the Aragvi River, flowing from the northeast - a symbolic meeting place of almost all corners of Georgia.
