Description

Explore Delos and enjoy swimming and snorkeling to a secluded cove off the uninhabited island of Rhenia. Experience ancient history with a guide, private beach time, and lunch with drinks.
Your sailing cruise experience starts with complimentary transportation from your hotel or a designated meeting point depending on the location of the accommodation. One of the cruise representatives will greet you and give you an overview of the cruise itinerary.

Once an overview of the sailing yacht and important safety information has been introduced by the crew, you will set sail for Rhenia and Delos islands, the center of the Cyclades, located few miles south-west of Mykonos.

During the cruise the crew will be happy to show you how to raise and trim the sails as well as to steer the yacht, weather permitting. Along the way, as you admire the spectacular scenery and the remarkable blue Aegean waters, you can enjoy music of your choice. Relax on deck, sunbathe, and hear about local island history from the crew.

After around 60 minutes of sailing, you’ll arrive at the unspoiled island of Rhenia, separated from the sacred island of Delos by a small strait. You’ll drop anchor in the idyllic bay and have around 2 hours to enjoy swimming and snorkeling, and then a light lunch on board of specially made pasta, Greek Salad and fresh fruit. A selection of complimentary house wine and soft drinks are also offered.

The next stop is the archaeological site of Delos, where you’ll have approximately 1.5 to 2 hours at your disposal to explore the island with a professional English-speaking guide. According to mythology, Delos was the birthplace of Apollo, the god of daylight and of music and his twin sister Artemis, the goddess of night light and hunting.

The sanctuary dedicated to Apollo and Artemis surrounded by a Hellenic city of about 30,000 inhabitants, the monuments, and impressive mosaics from the Archaic, the Classical, and the Hellenistic periods are certainly worth exploring.

Delos was inhabited between 2500 and 69 BC, and was a famous religious center as well as a major commercial center. It was proclaimed a tax-free port and due to its exceptionally favorable geographical location, became the hub of the transit trade between the eastern and western, and northern and southern Mediterranean.

In 1990 the whole island of Delos was designated a World Cultural Property and is protected by UNESCO. Visit the museum and walk up Mount Kynthos, which at 367 feet (112 meters) provides stunning views of the surrounding Cycladic islands.

At the end of the trip, sail back to Mykonos. Complimentary shuttle transportation will be waiting for you to take you on your way back.
