Description
Delphi, Thermopylae, Arachova, Kalambaka, Meteora.
Whether you are observing Meteora, Delphi, or Thermopylae, it is a captivating journey.
DAY 1
We start early in the morning heading to Delphi, the largest religious center of ancient Greece and the most significant oracle, believed to be built at the center of the Earth according to legend. There, we will meet our professional guide who will accompany us to the archaeological site of Delphi, dedicated to the Temple of Apollo, and the archaeological museum. You will have the opportunity to admire the Delphic oracle, the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Treasury, the Tholos of Athena Pronaia, as well as the famous statue of the Charioteer and the Sphinx of Naxos. We won’t miss visiting the Castalia Spring, where Pythia, the priestess, used to wash and receive prophecies.
Continuing to Arachova, a destination so popular that it is called the “Mykonos of winter.” Here, we will relax, take photos, and enjoy the view before heading to Thermopylae, where 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians, led by King Leonidas of Sparta, faced the numerous forces of the Persians, leaving behind bravery and sacrifice, uniting all city-states.
In the late afternoon, we arrive at Meteora, where we will spend the night. After settling into our hotel and relaxing, we will go to an idyllic spot called the “balcony of Meteora” to admire the view of the monasteries and the sunset.
You can book your stay in Meteora through our website with an additional charge.
DAY 2
Our day begins by waking up to the imposing and simultaneously stunning landscape. After breakfast, we head to the monasteries with a certified guide who will guide us through two of the three monasteries (entrance to the monastery may change depending on the day of the excursion). The included monasteries are:
Great Meteoron
Monastery of Varlaam
Monastery of Agios Triadas (Holy Trinity)
Monastery of Roussanou
Not all monasteries are visitable on the same day. We make a stop in a seaside picturesque village where we will have time for food and relaxation. In the late afternoon, we start our journey back to Athens.
