Description
Hike through donkey paths and rural landscapes towards an unspoiled, favored by the locals beach. Spend time at the beach, enjoy homemade lemonade and snacks and return through a different trail.
At this tour we hike from Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm & Vineyard towards the unspoiled northern beach of Merchia. We walk on a single track (donkey path) and a quiet paved road through the typical rural landscapes of Mykonos.
On the way we visit a traditional family chapel and we walk past the entrance of the abandoned barite mine, seizing the opportunity to discuss about the mining activity and this past aspect of locals’ life.
Our destination is a favored by the locals pristine beach, also offering us shaded resting areas under the trees.
We hike back to the vineyard following a different route, almost entirely through an abandoned donkey path / single track.
It is an easy hike on circular 6,2 km route with partly paved and partly uneven, rocky terrain, presenting no difficulty though.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This tour invlolves a, 1,5hour hike, so a moderate level of fitness is required.
A waterproof/windproof light jacket, in case of cold / rainy weather, in your backpack would be practical.
You may, ideally, bring reusable bottles for us to fill them with cold mineral water, so as to avoid the use of plastic single-use and environmentally unfriendly bottles!
If you drive to the Mykonos Vioma Organic Farm, here's how to reach us (coming from the direction of Mykonos town):
While driving along the central road leading to Ano Mera (coming from Mykonos town), still on the main road, you will find on your right hand Koutsothanasis bakery at the outskirts of Ano Mera village. Across the bakery you will see a war heroes’ monument and a 1st sign towards Fokos beach. Turn there, following the sign towards the beach of Fokos and taking the road behind the monument.
After approximately 500meters, continue left following the white sign of Mykonos Vioma (you will notice it on the electricity pole on your right hand).
Finally, at the intersection of Maou-Doubakia-Fokos, turn right towards MAOY and follow the road ahead. 200m after crossing a small bridge, you will meet the grey metal gate of the vineyard on your left hand.
The guide will be waiting for you at the guests' area of the vineyard.
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
