Learn how they arrived and lived in Hamburg whilst waiting to be shipped off to the new world. Understand what the daily life inside an emigration camp looked like and the challenges of starting a new life in a far-flung place.
World in Transit: a multi-visual exhibition that highlights emigration and immigration over the last 5 centuries. In 14 themed rooms gain insight into various countries that feel far away and yet are so familiar. Learn about the pull and push factors associated with starting over and gain insights into the occasionally personal reasons for emigration.
Stop by the third specialty exhibition, whose subject changes every few months. Use the research station to follow your own family history with the world’s largest genealogical database.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 48 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 48 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
