To mark the 250th anniversary of Caspar David Friedrich's birth, the Dresden State Art Collections are dedicating a comprehensive exhibition to him in the Albertinum with numerous loans from European museums.
The exhibition, Caspar David Friedrich - The Painter, shows Friedrich's landscape paintings in their vibrant colors. The mysterious light of his paintings and the depiction of endless distances have had a lasting influence on the way we see nature. Caspar David Friedrich lived in Dresden for over 40 years, where he created his most important works and engaged intensively with contemporary art. Friedrich found his inspiration in nature, especially on hikes in the Dresden area.
