Meet at 8:30 am at Marseille's Saint Charles train station to catch the train to Avignon. The journey takes approximately 1 hour.
Begin your visit at the Palace of the Popes, one of the largest Gothic palaces in Europe. Admire the imposing architecture and learn about the history of the popes who resided here in the 14th century.
Cross the famous Saint-Bénézet Bridge, also known as Pont d'Avignon, which was once a medieval bridge over the Rhône River. Enjoy the view of the river and the city from the bridge.
Head to the Jardin des Doms, located just behind the Palace of the Popes. This garden offers stunning panoramic views of the Palace, the Rhône River, and the surrounding area. It's an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Next to the garden, visit the Notre-Dame des Doms Cathedral. This remarkable cathedral features Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Inside, you can see paintings, sculptures, and the Chapel of the Holy Shroud.
Walk down to the city center and reach Place de l'Horloge, the lively heart of Avignon. This square is surrounded by cafes, shops, and restaurants. You can take a break here to taste local specialties or simply soak in the atmosphere.

Continue your stroll to Palais du Roure, a beautiful 18th-century mansion. It now houses the Heritage Center, where you can learn more about the culture and history of Avignon.
Visit the Saint-Pierre Church, a 14th-century Gothic church located nearby. Admire its elegant architecture and discover the artwork and relics it houses.
Return to the Palace of the Popes and explore the Place du Palais. This square is lined with historic buildings and charming shops. It's also a great spot to take photos of the Palace of the Popes.
Around 4.30 p.m take the train back to Marseille Saint Charles, you will arrive around 6p.m
