Description

Discover the enchanting Puerto Princesa Underground River & glide through lush mangroves on a serene paddle boat tour. Immerse yourself in nature's wonders, perfect for adventure and eco-lovers alike.
With this tour, you'll visit one of the longest navigable underground rivers in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel (within 15 km of Puerto Princesa Airport), with the exact pick-up time confirmed the night before. Enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour drive to Sabang Wharf, where you'll prepare for the river tour.

After a brief wait at the dispatch area, you'll board a motorized boat for a 20 to 30-minute ride to the entrance of the Underground River. Here, you'll switch to a paddle boat for a 45-minute guided journey through the stunning cave system, marveling at impressive limestone formations, stalactites and stalagmites. Your guide will share fascinating insights into Puerto Princesa’s rich flora, fauna and the unique ecosystem within the cave.

Following the Underground River tour, savor a hearty buffet lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, you'll join a mangrove paddle boat tour, led by a community guide who will provide insights into the importance of mangroves in the local ecosystem. As you peacefully glide through the mangrove forest, you may notice dead branches floating in the water. The community boatman will retrieve these branches and at the end of the tour, he will demonstrate how to extract Tamilok (woodworm) by cutting into them. You’ll get to observe this traditional harvesting process and learn about its significance in local culture.

For those feeling adventurous, you’ll have the chance to taste and try the freshly harvested wood worms which are locally called "Tamilok", a local delicacy often served with vinegar.
During the paddle boat trip, keep an eye out for wildlife that call the mangroves home. You might spot monkeys, lizards, snakes and a variety of birds in this rich ecosystem.

The tour concludes with a comfortable return to your hotel between 4-5 PM, leaving you with memories of a day well-spent exploring one of Palawan's natural wonders, enriched by unique cultural and wildlife experiences.
