Description
Explore the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and the Cathedral Museum on a private guided tour. View iconography of James the Great, flawless tapestries, the altar, and the tomb of the apostle.
The tour begins at the Cathedral's Museum which, along its four floors, has some of the most curious and beautiful pieces of art that can be found in these lands.
The ground floor of the Museum has four rooms in which we will see remains that were found in the different archaeological excavations, the map that will help us understand the different constructions that have existed where the cathedral complex stands today, or the spectacular stone choir of Master Mateo.
On the first floor we have various examples of religious iconography such as busts, statues or wooden carvings, both of the Apostle Santiago in his three versions (pilgrim, soldier and Saint), which we will tell you about, as well as different biblical characters.
Upon reaching the second floor, we will leave the cloister aside to focus on the Library, with the famous Codex Calixtinus and the Chapter House.
Later we will arrive at the third and last of the floors, completely dedicated to different tapestries from both the Flanders school, as well as the so-called Goya Tapestries made in the Royal Tapestry Factory of Madrid. From the balcony you can enjoy one of the best views from above of the Plaza do Obradoiro. Afterwards we will go back to the second floor to visit the cloister and from where we will directly access the Cathedral without having to wait on line. (Exception made if a special event is taking place as can be a Royal Visit of the King and Queen of Spain).
We go to the temple to enjoy its different chapels, as well as the main altar, the tomb of the apostle, the Botafumeiro or the Holy Door.
We make the tour according to your needs and we adapt to your preferences.
