Travel less than an hour north of Prague to the Melnik Chateau. Enjoy a tour through the stunning interiors, filled with valuable pieces of art and historical furnishings. Marvel at the Renaissance arcades and ornate façades. Learn about the chateau's history which is closely tied with the prominent Lobkowicz family, who currently own the chateau. See the breathtaking paintings by Baroque masters Karel Skreta, Petr Brandl, and Peter Paul Rubens which line the walls of the chateau and chapel.
After the tour, head down into the wine cellars which were founded by Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV. Learn about the long history of winemaking in Melnik. Winetasting tours are available for individuals or for groups. See the press and fermenting tanks in the first cellar, then continue on to second and third cellars where the wine is stored. Wines offered on the tour include Ludmila wine, sparkling wine Chateau Melnik, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Traminer and Lobkowicz’s St. Laurent.
