Description
Discover the rich culture and history of the Zenú people by visiting the great Zenú Gold Museum and the NINHA workshop led by indigenous women from the community.
When you visit Cartagena, you see many handicrafts being sold on the street by local vendors. Yet, you miss out on the most important thing: they are indigenous peoples, from the Zenú culture. Their over 3,000-year-old weaving techniques have given Colombians one of their identity objects, the Sombrero Vueltiao. Learn about the Zenús directly from them. Visit the Zenú museum with a unique indigenous guidance and then visit the neighborhood "20 Julio" where a big Zenú family migrated. There you will see their workshop and learn some of their weaving techniques from them. You will have a chance to purchase exclusive objects directly from those who make them, improving their income and promoting fair market values.
