Description

During this experience, one of our social scientists will guide you through the history of Colombia and Bogotá as you walk through the charming streets of La Candelaria and the Gold Museum.
This 3-4 hour private walking experience starts at the Gold Museum entrance and finishes in La Candelaria. During this experience, one of our social scientists or scholars will take you through the history of Colombia through the buildings and stories of La Candelaria and the Gold Museum. La Candelaria is the city's most attractive and unique colonial neighborhood. Since 1538, it has been a place of gorgeous colonial architecture and the center of the country's government.
During this walking tour, you will wander around the most stunning colonial streets, such as La Calle del Embudo and Calle de La Fatiga. We will visit a colonial house and learn about the graffiti scene in Bogotá and Colombia's culture. Then, we will visit the Plaza de Bolivar, the center of many crucial episodes of Colombian history and the place of the most important government buildings. During the visit to the Gold Museum, the most shocking Indigenous museum in the country, you will be delighted with a collection of more than 59.000 pre-Colombian indigenous pieces of gold art, jewelry, handicrafts, and ceramics, alongside our expert's explanation behind the symbolism of these pieces and their relationship with the country's wildlife and culture. At the end, or during the tour, we take a break to have a typical snack or a quick coffee tasting, which is included.
