Description
Immerse yourself in an experience of bio-tourism and hiking through the unique forest of giant frailejones and the Andean bear house in Choachi. An immersion in the high Andean forest, learning and landscapes.
This experience starts in Bogota at 6:50am, from where we will take a van for 1 hour and 15 minutes to the town of Choachi, from there we will take a 4x4 vehicle that will take us for 50 minutes to the beginning of the trail, during this time we will have the opportunity to see beautiful Andean landscapes, with rugged mountains and peasant trails.
Around 9:30am we will be at the starting point of the trek, where we will be accompanied by an additional local guide, a member of the peasant association that has achieved a process of ecosystem restoration in this place.
Our experience will be led by a biologist tour guide who will be telling and teaching us little by little all the ecological and biological details of this incredible ecosystem.
We will ascend progressively through the forest, passing the agricultural frontier, the recovering forests until we reach the primary forest, where we will find the highest frailejones forest in the world. A place considered endemic to Colombia and Choachi. This beautiful forest is the home of the Andean bear, so there are several chances to see it in some of the trails that we will be walking.
We will see exotic orchids, birds, giant trees and an incredible diversity of Andean flowers. During the tour our tour guide will tell us incredible details of several of the species that we will encounter. It is an immersion in knowledge and mountaineering.
After ascending for almost 2 hours, we will arrive at the Paramillo Lagoon, a beautiful lagoon where water flows directly from Chingaza and the buffer forest. At this point we will have lunch with snacks and enjoy a rest with a spectacular view of the forest.
Later, we will go to the viewpoint of the bear, a hill that will allow us to have a view of the entire forest and to get there we must cross the cloud forest that has an incredible state of conservation, the so-called primary forest.
We will enjoy the ascent and descent to our next point, the Tuche waterfall where we can refresh ourselves if the day is sunny or do a meditation to enjoy the tranquility of the place and the strength and energy of the sound of water.
From here, we will continue our way down, to retake the 4x4 vehicle, return to the entrance of the rural tourism association, then to Choachi and then to Bogota.
