After 1 hour drive, you will arrive at Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling), a set of thirteen royal mausoleums of the Ming emperors, located in Changping District about 50 kilometers northwest of Beijing.
You'll first visit the Sacred Way, an imperial cemetery road built for Chang Ling, Emperor Zhu Di’s tomb, which later became the main road for all Thirteen tombs. Your knowledgeable guide will explain the meaning of each stone statue along the way. Feel free to ask questions if you have.
After that, you'll head to Dingling Underground Palace, the tomb of Emperor Zhu Yijun, where your guide will share detailed stories about Ming Dynasty history and burial culture. Stroll around courtyards and halls, and check out the museums to see the treasures from the underground palace. Then step into the Underground Palace to learn the stories about the emperor and his two expresses.
Continuing the tour, you'll visit the Changling Tomb, the tomb of Emperor Yongle, the third Ming emperor, which is the largest and best-preserved of the Ming Tombs.
Finally, on the way back to your hotel in Beijing, if traffic allows, you'll drive past the Beijing 2008 Olympic stadiums for a photo opportunity.
