Join an introduction to ice climbing class for beginners in Banff and discover your new favorite winter sport. Receive a safety briefing and learn the basics before scaling a frozen waterfall.
This program is designed to introduce the sport of ice climbing to beginners. The experience will get people climbing and introduced to the world of ice with a safety oriented approach, starting with the basics. This program is an excellent way to enjoy the winter environment with friends or is great for families with kids ages 14+.
A detailed course package will be emailed 3 days prior to course commencement.
The Day:
The field day will be held either within the Banff, Lake Louise or Field BC regions. In some cases due to conditions the location may change, this will be discussed in the final logistics email. Be prepared to meet at 8/9am and expect to finish around 3/4pm.
*This group booking needs at least 4 bookings to move forward. We cannot guarantee the tour until this number is reached. Please inquire with the AAA team via email to verify.
**If you have an exceptional experience and would like to leave a tip for your guide, 10-15% is a customary amount. You can pay with cash or contact the AAA office directly to arrange.

You will be required to drive to the meeting location and the climbing site
All guides are ACMG and or IFMGA and Canadian Avalanche Association certified
Meet your guide at the Alpine Air Adventures office located at 229 Bear St on the lower level, under the movie theatre.
You will need your own transportation to the climbing site.
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
