Enjoy your own private little cruise, lay back comfortably watching the lake’s life go by. You can select the time to witness the sun setting majestically over Tonle Sap Lake.
An excursion into the heart of the “Mère Nourricière” of the country, Tonle Sap. Also known as the “Great Lake’, Tonle Sap is the largest lake in South-East Asia and can vary from 2 500 km² during the dry season to over 13 000 km² during the wet season. Its complex ecosystem provides fish to the whole kingdom and beyond, thanks to its fishermen communities.
Chong Khneas is a floating village that has been here for about 300 years with over 1000 families living by fishing. Like other floating villages, people here live in houseboats. They build the floating markets, boat docks, schools, clinics and create a village throughout this 1,042 sq mile lake. Because the water levels in Tonle Sap Lake can rise or fall seasonally, all activities of local people are also affected. Coming here, you will have an opportunity to explore the features of floating houses.
