Description
It's wonderful to take morning walks in Siem Reap. Why not try a walking tour and eat breakfast in the city with us? Try different types of Cambodian breakfast and learn about Siem Reap City.
Meeting Point, Starbucks at Heritage Walk: This tour is a walking tour so you will meet our guide in front of Starbucks at Heritage Walk, a centrally-located shopping mall in Siem Reap.
Royal Residence: After meeting our guide, we will walk to the Royal Residence and its spiritual house (“Phreah Ang Chek, Phreah Ang Chom”). You will get a comprehensive tour of this sacred site, and our guide will explain how local people come to the spiritual house for fortune-telling and grief counseling. Walk toward our first breakfast stop and cross the Royal Gardens, located right in front of the Royal Residence, and the Grand Hotel d’Angkor, one of the first luxury hotels that opened in 1932 and has since then welcomed travelers from around the world coming to Siem Reap to visit the Angkor temples.
Nom Banh Chok (Cambodian Rice Noodle): In this stop, you will try one of the most famous Khmer dishes, Num Banh Chok: Num Banh Chok is a Cambodian rice noodle dish, most commonly enjoyed for breakfast, but also served throughout the day. Num Banh Chok is all about the interplay of textures and flavors - the cool noodles are bathed in the warm curry soup, and then topped with fresh herbs and vegetables. What a delicious and refreshing way to start your day!
Beef Stew (Khor Ko): At our next breakfast spot, you can try Beef Stew (Khor Ko) with cassava bread. Khor Ko is a delicious and flavorful meal, highlighting the unique mixture of spices and ingredients used in Khmer cuisine. In a narrow backyard just off the big road, we will try a delicious Khor Ko, bread, and local coffee. Enjoy your second breakfast stop surrounded by local people!
Bai Sach Chrok (Rice with Pork): This popular breakfast food in Cambodia is called Bai Sach Chrouk, which translates to "rice and pork" in Khmer. Steamed rice is paired with thinly sliced roasted pork, fried egg, vegetable pickle, and soup for a tasty and simple dish. You’ll try one plate each, and this is our last breakfast stop for our tour this morning.
Vorsa Cafe: After walking and enjoying a lot of food, relax and chill at one of the local coffee shops, Vorsa Cafe. This coffee shop is new and run by young people in Siem Reap. Choose your favorite drink and relax here as you reflect on the impressions that you have collected from the tour so far. This is also the time to ask any additional questions to our guide for further explanations.
Wat Preah Prohm Rath: We will end our tour at one of the beautiful local pagodas, Wat Preah Prohm Roth. Before ending, our guide will share some information and stories about Buddhism and local beliefs and traditions. As the tour comes to an end, our guide will give you directions on how to reach the Old Market nearby, where you can continue with your city explorations for further sightseeing, shopping, or - if you are still hungry after our tour - have lunch around that Old Market area!
