We are going to pick up you at the lobby of hotel where you are staying. Then, transfer to visit the magnificent twin hills. The East Hill is filled with captivating stories of religion, the Khmer king, and an impressive reclining Buddha statue. Take a serene stroll down the steps to behold this wonder and admire the breathtaking views, fresh air, and rich cultural and historical significance. Walk through the forest to reach the bottom of the stairs, you can also visit the ancient temples of the Pre-Angkorian Era, which are definitely worth a look. While the site could use better organization and management, its natural beauty and historical importance more than compensate for any shortcomings. Then we move onto Phnom Reap Temple which is alternatively known as Prasat Vihear Suor. This relatively new structure which was finished in 1998 and is based on the architectural style of Angkor Wat and is referred to as the new Angkor Wat.
Then, we drive to visit Udong, which was the royal capital between 1618 and 1866 before the capital was moved to Phnom Penh. The walk up the hill over 500 steps provides an excellent exercise especially the view countryside view. These hills were also the site of some of the Khmer Rouge’s most prolonged resistance against the Vietnamese army in 1979 and a memorial to those murdered by the Khmer Rouge was built on this place.
After that, we keep going to visit Long Vek, a city in ancient Cambodia. It was the second capital city during the Cambodia's Middle Ages which began after the Khmer Empire's Angkor Era. The city was known to early European traders as "Cambodia". The city use to serve as center of the country's military. It was a gathering point for people of knowledge including scholars and martial artists. Longvek was chosen by King Ang Chan I after the sacking of Angkor by the Siamese as a new capital because of its more readily defensible terrain. As a result, there was a time when Cambodia was often referred to as Longvek by foreign travellers.
After Ang Chan I defeated Sdach Kon he changed the capital city from Chaktomuk to Longvek in 1528. This new city was the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia from 1528 to 1594. This city was conquered by the Ayuttaya kingdom of the Siamese in 1594 and then the King Naresuan of Ayutthaya kingdom chose his son to reign over Cambodia in 1594. Longvek was one of the greatest cities in Cambodia.
