Constructed in the 1970s, the Buzludzha Monument was intended to commemorate the founding of the Bulgarian Socialist Movement. It served as the headquarters of the Bulgarian Communist Party until the fall of communism in 1989
The monument is known for its striking and futuristic design, which incorporates elements of socialist realist architecture. The central structure resembles a flying saucer or UFO, with a large red star on top, symbolizing communism. The interior features elaborate mosaics, murals, and communist iconography.
Following the collapse of communism in Bulgaria, the monument fell into disrepair and was abandoned. It has since become a popular destination for urban explorers, photographers, and tourists interested in its unique architecture and historical significance.
