This guided visit will give you the full flavor of Lisbon throughout its history. You will be picked up at your hotel and head to Belém, where you will start our tour. Belém is a landmark of the Discoveries period and you will see several grand monuments of that era (Torre de Belem, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, Capela de São Jerónimo) and others from more recent times but that celebrate that outstanding period (Padrao dos Descobrimentos). Other attractions can also be seen or visited here, namely the Planetarium, the Coach Museum, and the Navy Museum. This is also the place for a stop at the most famous 19th century house Casa dos Pastéis de Belem (Portuguese custard tarts), with walls beautifully decorated with traditional Portuguese tiles.
Head to downtown passing first by Parque Edward 7th, where you will enjoy incredible views over downtown Lisbon, the Tagus River, and the southern landscapes beyond. From there cross the Marquês de Pombal roundabout, the city's geographic center, and head to Rossio and Praça do Comércio, exploring the Pombaline architecture, which was used to rebuild this part of the city after the 1755 earthquake and tsunami. Praça do Rossio, the main dowtwon square, is the city's social center since ancient times, and layers of all periods of history, including Roman, are scattered everywhere, making this a unique part of the city.
Driving by the river and along the old Moorish district of Alfama, head to Parque das Nações, one of the best examples of modern urbanism in Portugal and where the last World Exhibition of the 20th century (EXPO 98) took place. Here, many attractions that remain from the Exhibition (e.g, oceanarium) can be explored through a stroll around the place. This will be last place of visit, and from here you will be dropped off at your hotel.
