Explore Sarajevo’s turbulent history on a 4-hour guided tour led by a war veteran. With free pick-up and drop-off available at your address in Sarajevo, this immersive experience takes you to the city’s most significant wartime landmarks, offering a firsthand perspective on the Siege of Sarajevo.

The day begins at the Ex-Hotel Holiday Inn, now Hotel Holiday, located along the infamous Sarajevo Sniper Alley. Built for the 1984 Winter Olympics, this iconic building housed foreign journalists who reported on the Bosnian War and the Siege. Your guide will share stories about the hotel’s role during the siege and lead you on a short walk along Sniper Alley, recounting events that shaped Sarajevo’s history.

The next stop is the War Tunnel Museum – Tunnel of Hope, a lifeline for the city during the siege. Here, you’ll watch a short film about the war and the tunnel’s construction before entering the Tunnel itself. In the museum’s exhibition area, you’ll see artifacts directly tied to Sarajevo’s resistance. Your veteran guide, a survivor of the siege, will share a first-person account of life during the war and the political forces behind the breakup of Yugoslavia and the conflicts that followed.

After the Tunnel, the tour continues to Trebević Mountain, a former frontline during the siege and the site of many intense battles. One of the highlights here is the Sarajevo Bobsleigh Track, originally built for the 1984 Winter Olympics. Now recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful abandoned places, the track features stunning graffiti by international artists. Learn about the bobsleigh’s history, its strategic importance during the war, and its transformation into an artistic landmark.

Trebević Mountain also offers breathtaking panoramic views of Sarajevo. From the summit, your guide will explain the tactics of the Republic of Srpska forces and how Sarajevo’s defenders resisted against overwhelming odds to protect the city.

The final stop is the Jewish Cemetery, one of the largest in Europe and a site of both historical and wartime significance. During the siege, this location became a sniper nest and front line for the Republic of Srpska Army, overlooking Sniper Alley.

The tour concludes in Sarajevo’s Old Town, where your guide will ensure you leave with a deeper understanding of the city’s resilience and history.
